Inhale/Exhale | The Renewing Presence - Suffering + Healing | May 18, 2025

Sermon Description:

The psalmist boldly claims that God is close to the broken-hearted, but sometimes, when suffering hits, it seems the furthest thing from the truth.  How is God close, exactly?  We examine how the Holy Spirit meets us in our suffering by addressing three core struggles: feeling alone, feeling life is meaningless, and feeling hopeless. To antidote these, the Holy Spirit offers presence, purpose, and promise, helping us not only endure suffering but be spiritually transformed through it. And although none of us can avoid suffering, we can choose how we deal with it, and with the Spirit’s help - Instead of avoiding pain, we are invited to face it honestly and receive God’s comfort and healing—now or in the restoration to come.

SPEAKERS:

David Kim (Saratoga), Archie Jackson (South Hills)

Bible Passage(s):

Romans 5:3-5
