Right in the middle of the 10 commandments, we see Yahweh command his people to Sabbath. Which is a strange command. What is a “Sabbath.” And beside Chik-Fil-A not being open on Sunday, what does it even mean to Sabbath in the middle of our modern world. Lisa Averill shows that Sabbath might be one of the least-understood ideas to our modern ears, but one of the most important to us, especially in the Bay Area where the pace of life tends to cause people to be over-worked. And if we look, we can see that God Himself is commanding His people to do something...for their own deep benefit.
