WESTGATE MEET-UPS

We want to help everyone who comes to WestGate Church move from attending to belonging.  This is more than a t-shirt slogan (although we did print t-shirts with that saying on them).

We believe the Christian life isn’t just difficult to do alone.  It’s impossible.

So, this summer, during the months of May and June, we're inviting you to join our staff and key leaders to join us as we…well…just do stuff.

So check out this sweet list of WESTGATE CHURCH MEET-UPS and let the fun begin.

BIKE RIDE (ADVANCED)

This will be a 2-hour road bike ride around through Saratoga/Cupertino and/or Los Altos. Must be able to ride efficiently and manage some hills. Meet at 2pm at the upper patio of the Saratoga Campus Worship Center.

FAMILY PARK DAY

Come hang out with your kids at Saratoga Creek Park from 10-11:30am. Bring a snack to share. We will meet by the playground. The park is located on Hoyet Drive off of Cordelia Avenue (off Lawrence Expressway).

OPTION 2: This is a moderately paced bike ride (average speed 16-18 mph). It will probably include one moderately challenging hill climb. The ride will be approximately 20-28 miles and take under 2 hours. We will meet at the South Hills Campus parking lot (6601 Camden Ave, San Jose, CA 95120) at 9am-11am. More than likely it'll be a loop from SH to either Bailey or Willow pass. Bring water and if needed, a Powerbar. If we're so inclined, we might wrap-up by getting coffee afterwards.

COFFEE CRAWL (YOUNG PROFESSIONALS)

We’re going on a Coffee Crawl in the City. We will be visiting some popular coffee shops in San Francisco to do a coffee tasting. We will either rally up at the Saratoga campus or possibly BART on Fridays at 11am and plan to be back by 5:30pm. This is for anyone who finds themselves wanting to adventure in the city, want to explore coffee/matcha, and meet other young adults.

KIDS PLAYDATE (PARENTS HANG-OUT)

PLAYDATE! Meet at the Seven Seas Park in Sunnyvale. Parents hang out while kids play on the awesomely-fun structures or splash pad. Play from 10am-12noon.

FAMILY PICNIC IN THE PARK

Hey, it’s Friday Fun Day at the Park. At the end of a long summer week, who wants to cook on Friday night? So don’t! Bring your family, pack a picnic dinner (or buy something take-out!) and bring a blanket and join us for a Family Picnic Dinner at the Park. We’ll be meeting at Doerr Park (Park Wilshire Drive and Potrero Drive in San Jose), which is a *great* park featuring a large grassy area to kick a soccer ball around, basketball hoops, tennis courts, a toddler playground as well as large play structure with ninja warrior type obstacles that’s great for slightly older kids!  Meet from 5pm-7:30pm, at the covered picnic tables

GO SEE TOY STORY 4

Woody and Buzz and the whole crew are back for the final installment of this beloved Pixar franchise. Since Toy Story 4 comes out on June 20, so we’ll all go see it Saturday, June 22nd. We’ll watch the movie at Century 20 Oakridge at the Oakridge Mall, and then afterwards, hang out in the high-class Mall Food Court. Exact times are yet to be determined.

DOG PARK MEET UP

Got dogs? So do we! Take your furry friends and meet us at the Jeffrey Fontana Dog Park (at the corner of Golden Oak Way and McAbee Road) in San Jose, CA 95120 from 2-4pm on Sunday. We’ll let the dogs run free, we’ll chat, and perhaps even discuss why cats are miserable pets.

ROSE GARDEN PICNIC DINNER

Bring your picnic basket or sack dinner and blanket and meet up at Municipal Rose Garden Park at the corner of Dana Ave and Naglee Ave San Jose, CA 95112. Look for us by the fountain in the park. We’ll be there from 530pm - 7pm on June 21.

MONDAY/WEDNESDAY NOON LAP SWIM

Join us on Mondays and Wednesday through May and June for a lap swim at Santa Clara International Swim Center ($6 drop in or $5 per swim with advance card purchase from the nearby Kiely Community Center). Arrive a bit before noon. Swim in a lane that goes your speed; half the lanes figure out their own workouts, the other half are open swim, generally more relaxed. Will likely be setup for Olympic long course 50 meters. Swim for an hour then depending on schedule go grab a bite to eat nearby. Long course lanes doing workouts generally can repeat 100s freestyle on 1:30 or 1:40 or 1:50 and will do 2500-3000 meters; open swim is suitable for beginners - note pool is mostly all deep.

SENIORS LUNCH

Are you a senior (as in “age 55+” not as in “I am about to graduate high school”). This lunch is open to men and women at a HOA Clubhouse in Los Gatos (it holds up to 56 guests, so come one, come all.) The lunch will start around 12pm with no ending time (to allow people to visit and connect for as long as they’d like. RSVP below, and the host will contact you about exact location details. Cost will be roughly $15 for the food.

BOARD GAME NIGHT

Do you love board games? So do we. We’ll have a night where we’ll play (and teach) awesome board games to adults and/or kids at our house. Kids can play their own games or watch a movie while parents play adult board games OR, depending on the crowd, we can play family friendly games with parents and kids. The time will be from 8pm-10pm at a house in the 95124 area (the event coordinator will email you the address after you RSVP below).

FILOLI GARDENS

Join us as we go to Filoli Gardens. Filoli is a country house set in 16 acres of formal gardens surrounded by a 654-acre estate, located in Woodside, California, about 25 miles south of San Francisco, at the southern end of Crystal Springs Reservoir, on the eastern slope of the Santa Cruz Mountains. If you love flowers and strolling through beautiful gardens come join us as we admire the beauty and fragrance of different blooming flora. We will meet in the front of WestGate Saratoga Worship Center at 9:30am and carpool or caravan to Filoli. Admission to Filoli is $22, Students $15, Children 5-17 $11

Join us to go shopping at ESTATE SALES (these can be as far north as Mountain View and as far south as Morgan Hill). Definition of an ESTATE SALE: An Estate Sale is a way of liquidating the belongings of a family or (house) estate. These are usually much more than GARAGE or YARD sales. They are used when someone is in need of a way to sell items due to downsizing, moving, divorce, bankruptcy, or death. If you are interested, RSVP and the event organizer will contact you and get you details about the when/where of the sales that week. This usually lasts from 9am-noon.

SANTANA ROW FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE NIGHT)

Come join us at Santana Row for a fun Friday night movie. Since it’s a while away, sign up and as we get closer to the event, we’ll figure out which movie and which showing and email you. We’ll meet in front of the Cinemark theaters.
