Matthew Season 1 - Week 8
At the end of chapter 4 and at the end of chapter 9, Matthew strategically places the exact same phrase - like bookends - to highlight the work of Jesus. The phrase says that Jesus “taught… proclaimed the Kingdom of God…and healed people.” Matthew is drawing our attention to the way that Jesus proves He is the Messiah - in word and deed - and how these three actions help put God’s Good World - which had been broken by sin - back together. Matthew is trying to show us that Jesus is the MEssiah, the Good King, come to defeat Sin and Death and put broken people back together - and how He not only did that, but is still doing it.
