Steve came to the church in a very unusual way.
He was not raised in a Christian home and never intended to become a pastor
after becoming a Christian. Steve was a high school teacher and football coach
in Texas (Steve's home, God's dwelling place) and did not enter into vocational
ministry until the age of 30. With a great wife (Dana) and two awesome sons (Josh
and Clay) they began the journey of Dallas Seminary and working at a church in
Texas. Steve came to California. in 1991 and worked at Santa Cruz Bible church
for 10 years before joining Westgate Church in the summer of 2001.
A Few of My Favorite Things
Sports - "I love all kinds
of sports, especially the dangerous ones! My sons and I love to ride dirt bikes
(motorcycles) and I also enjoy archery. My wife and I enjoy tennis together and
we run together, but really hate it!"
Music -"I love rock music,
country music and most anything that has acoustic guitar in it (except Spanish
flamingo stuff)."
Movies- "I like most action type stuff (typical
male, no plot, meaningless dialog, action) and my favorite movies are "The Quiet
Man" with John Wayne, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, "Independence Day" and all "Star Wars" movies.
Books- "My favorite author is Philip Yancey. I also enjoy
John Eldredge, Dallas Willard, A.W. Tozer, C.S. Lewis, Erwin McManus, Mark Buchanan and John
Ortberg."

What if"s
What if you weren't in
ministry?
"I'd be dead, because ministry is something you are, not something you do."
What if you could spend time with any famous historical
person?
"I would love to hang with Abraham Lincoln, George Washington
,William Wilberforce and Winston Churchill. If it were a Bible character, I
would love to spend time with Peter and David."
