WESTGATE STAFF:
Scott McDonald
Elder

Scott, and his wife Debbie, started attending WestGate Church in 1996. They both became involved in various ministries and eventually focused on men's and women's ministries and serving community groups. Scott loves connecting with people and helping them get plugged in, so coordinating the Greeting Team fits right in with his DESIGN.
Scott placed his faith in Christ as a teenager and has been in an on-going process of complete surrender ever since. A number of defining moments took place in his life which accelerated this process. God used those events to clarify Scott's focus and pull him to a new level of surrender and serving.
Scott's wife, Debbie, came to Christ as a young girl. She began serving on staff at WestGate in 2002 as the Women’s Ministries Director, and is now serving as the Community Life Pastor. Scott and Debbie met at Bank of America where she trained him as a teller. Both received degrees in Marketing from San Jose State. They are active, and in their early years together enjoyed skiing and windsurfing. They both enjoy playing tennis where they love including as many friends as possible. God has blessed Scott and Debbie with two sons, Jason (1983) and Ryan (1986). Both participate and serve in various ministries at WestGate and share Scott's passion for mountain bike riding.
A few of my favorite things
Sports
Scott loves to Mountain Bike and play tennis every chance he gets. He will go road biking too, but only when he can't get out on his mountain bike. He also enjoys occasional skiing, windsurfing and playing golf.
Movies
Action and comedies are what Scott is primarily drawn to. Some of his favorites are Kelly's Heroes, A Knight’s Tale, The Hunt for the Red October, Independence Day, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Galaxy Quest, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and The Italian Job.
What if's
What if you weren't in ministry?
- Aren’t all believers in some form of ministry?
What if you were not on the Elder Board?
- Scott considers it a privilege and responsibility serving the WestGate body as an
Elder. It is also a huge blessing and he has grown in his walk during his time on the board. If he was not on the Elder Board, he would enjoy getting more involved in other outreach ministries where his spiritual gifts could be utilized.
What if you could spend time with any famous historical person?
- Spending time with Ronald Reagan would be awesome for Scott. His faith, outlook
and attitude are attributes Scott admires. He was authentic and real. Luke, of the Bible, would be interesting too for his attention to detail and devotion to serving.
