Vitals
Shortly after moving to the West San Jose area in 1997, Bill and his
wife Julie became members of Westgate Church. Bill shortly became an
Elder, and in 2001, took over duties as volunteer staff Business
Administration and Treasurer. He began following Christ as a high
schooler in Santa Barbara. As sometimes happens, he was swayed away
from his faith briefly, with various through college and work. Feeling
God's urging him back during his early career as a CPA and corporate
controler, Bill rededicated his life to Christ while attending a church
in Redwood City. He then met and married Julie while they attended
church in Menlo Park. God has blessed Bill and Julie with two sons,
Jared and David. Although there were years of excessive work in his
prior career, Bill has experienced the blessings of a successful
"startup to public company" adventure, and now enjoys being able to
invest more time with his family, his relationship with Christ, and
Westgate Church.
A Few of My Favorite Things
Music -"I like pop/rock, light jazz, and some classical music. There
was a time in my life when I had a very obnoxious stereo system and
liked high end audiophile stuff - but now I'm content with a more
modest music experience, reflecting my more thrifty lifestyle (where
some friends would call me cheap!)."
Sports - "I currently try to participate in Master's swimming and
someday would like to again try waterpolo. Bodysurfing in warmer ocean
waters is fun too. I and my boys are taking up dirt-biking, riding
motorcycles mostly on easy trails. I can take up space but have a hard
time getting off the ground in basketball. I enjoy Frisbee golf,
volleyball and an occasional bicycle ride."
Movies - "I like action and adventure movies like "Gladiator", "Indiana
Jones", "Lord of the Rings" and "Star Wars", as well as some nice sappy
musicals like "The Sound of Music" and the animated movie "Beauty and
the Beast."
Books - "Recent books that I've enjoyed include "Wild at Heart" by John
Eldredge, and "Celebration of Discipline" by Richard Foster. I find
studying the Bible to be challenging but hugely rewarding!"
What if"s
What if you weren't in ministry?
"I might be tempted to join another startup company or go into systems
software consulting, but I would have a new emphasis on keeping my
schedule more available for my family."
What if you could spend time with any famous historical person?
"I'd like to hang out with Solomon from the Old Testament. I admire his
desire for wisdom and appreciate his search for a meaningful life,
finding it only through the Lord."
