Frequently Asked Questions:

What happens with my kids when I bring them to WestGate?

Kids are a big deal to us, and we have developed a special program with them in mind. When you come on Sunday your child(ren) will have the opportunity to join the GiggleZone (Nursery-Kindergarten), Kid Quest (1st-4th Grade), or Vertical V (5th Grade). Each of these programs is especially designed to balance the desire for parents to have their children learn Biblical values, and the desire of kids to just have a whole lot of fun! Our goal is that your kids will have such a great time learning that they will drag you out of bed on Sunday morning for church. For more information, check us out at www.Kidnections.org

Do you guys have any adult Sunday school classes?

We don't have adult Sunday School classes at WestGate for two reasons. One is that we are a church of community groups (small groups). This means that the approach we have taken to foster growth in Christ and discipleship is in community within the small group structure (as opposed to a classroom setting...which is how the typical adult Sunday School programs have been structured). The second reason is that our campus really doesn't afford us the space to house them. All of our rooms are full with kids ministry and/or connection classes. Connection classes are different than Sunday School classes. Connection classes are hour-long classes that expose people to our church, share with them what we believe and the direction we are going as a church and attempt to connect them into community groups (our term for small groups).

Why do you have multiple sites?

We believe that the most powerful "agent" in a community is a Christ centered church focused on serving that community. When you have multiple campuses, you have the advantage of a large church (in terms of people mass, impact ability, resources, etc.) but retain all the impact opportunity in each community setting. We believe that it is the best of all possibilities. Put simply, we believe that a church of 5 locations of 500 each is stronger and has more opportunity for impact for God's kingdom than one church of 2500.

What do people wear at your church on a Sunday morning?

We tend to be a pretty casual church so you’ll see folks in shorts and T-shirts sometimes. But bottom line, feel free to dress in anything you feel comfortable wearing. We’re more concerned in you than what you wear.

What does a typical worship service look like?

The services look different from week to week based on what the theme or subject is going to be for that morning. There typically is an opportunity to worship through music, prayer and relevant teaching from the Bible.  We use various expressions of worship which would include drama, visual arts, dance and video. Following the service, prior to picking up your children, you're encouraged to take a few minutes to say "hi" to others you may see.

Do you guys do any funky visitor recognitions if I come on a Sunday?

Many people who attend WestGate like coming and just checking out church and God. We like people to come without any anxiety about being singled out for that. We do have nametags that many of our people wear on a regular basis so they can accelerate the process of getting to know people and learning their names.

Do I have to give any money if I come on a Sunday?

We invite our regular attendees to bring a financial offering to God each Sunday. This is something we do as an act of our worship and enjoyment of God for who He is. However, we tell our guests not to feel any kind of pressure or even expectation to participate in this. It is something for those people who call WestGate their home church.

How long are your services?

Our services are typically 75 minutes long.

How often do you have communion?

We enjoy taking communion together as a church family once a month in the morning services.

Do I have to be a member to attend on a Sunday?

No. In fact, we welcome people who might be investigating God, skeptical or even from a different faith background to join us as we explore the ancient truths of the Bible.
