PUBLIC FAITH FORUM :: WORK
“There is a difference between efficiency and productivity and actually living a beautiful life of meaning and depth.” - Jon Tyson (Pastor in NYC)
The above quote might very well be the most unAmerican sentence you will read today. Believing this in our culture - especially the Silicon Valley - is akin to swimming upstream against the Mississippi River in flood season.
So what is a follower of Jesus to do?
Join us for our first PUBLIC FAITH FORUM.
We'll be exploring the question of how can a follower of Jesus - who also happens to find him or herself deeply embedded in the business world - live robustly and faithfully as a disciple of Jesus? How can those in the marketplace navigate through the particular issues of the Silicon Valley business world?
PARTICULAR QUESTIONS THAT WILL BE ADDRESSED:
1. How can I fight against the temptation of workaholism? There is literally someone waiting for my job who is willing to work 80 hours a week to take my job. What do I do?
2. What do I do when I find myself under a manager that is incompetent? What about a manager who is cruel, or unfair?
The goal of these PUBLIC FAITH FORUMS - which will be held the fourth Thursday of June, July and August - is to create space where people of faith can explore deep and important issues together with Biblical wisdom, nuance, candor and practical action steps from a panel of thoughtful and knowledgeable experts.
The panel will give practical advice and share wisdom about these, and many other questions. And there will be a time for discussion and anonymous Q&A from the audience.
Dinner at 6:00pm
Forum - 7-8:30pm
