Community Life at WestGate

Community Life incorporates everything we do to bring people together in Christ-centered relationships. Our classes and small groups, special events, and service opportunities are all designed to create community.

Starting Points

If you’re new to WestGate—or even if you’ve been around a while and you’re ready to go deeper—you’ll want to check out Connections.

  • Check the calendar for a Newcomers’ Dessert at the home of Steve and Dana Clifford each month. Click Here!

Find out about Explore and Discovery classes and Community Groups, where you can learn more about WestGate, what we believe, and Six40 Discipleship. If you’re not familiar with the term Six40 Disciple, Click Here to learn more, or contact our Connections Pastor, Dana Clifford at (408) 252-3700 x230 or Dana@WestGateChurch.org.

    Community Groups

“The Heart of WestGate—Living as Six40 Disciples.”

We refer to our small groups as Community Groups. Our desire is to become a place where our larger church family is represented in many smaller communities of faith, where people can connect, grow, and serve.

    • Connect - Make new friends...be encouraged, supported and loved.
    • Grow - Learn alongside others...what it means to be a follower of Christ.
    • Serve - Have fun serving with friends...our Westgate family and surrounding communities.

Community Groups meet on a regular basis, most often weekly and in local homes with some meeting on the church campus. We currently have groups meeting on campus on Wednesday nights with childcare provided.

Most of our groups are study based. Each participates in the goals of a Six40 Disciple - to Love God, Love Our Neighbor and Love One Another. It’s through community that we believe we can best live as Six40 Disciples. During the 2007-08 year, most of our groups went through the Six40 Discipleship Books, written by one of our pastors, Joel King. Any group that participated in this process was called a "Six40 Group." Now that we're back to using all sorts of curriculum, the groups are called Community Groups once again. During the 2008-09 year, some new groups will use the Six40 curriculum, and these specific groups will be known as Six40 Groups. Confused yet? Give us a call!
